Viñedo Chadwick represents the materialization of a long-cherished desire on the part of the Chadwick family to honor the memory of the late Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz with an ultra Premium red wine that expresses the lineage, tradition and experience of the Chadwick-Errázuriz family in the production of fine wines that reflect the family passion for excellence. The objective is to make an elegant wine, with freshness and purity, that shows the Maipo Valley at its best. Although Don Alfonso never saw the finished wine, he is remembered in every bottle of Viñedo Chadwick.
Since its first 1999 vintage was launched in 2002, Viñedo Chadwick has consistently received the highest praise and accolades, including being ranked by Robert Parker as the highest-scoring Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon for five consecutive years.
The 2014 vintage marked a milestone in the history of Chilean wine, as well as for the family winery. In May 2016, Viñedo Chadwick 2014 obtained a perfect score of 100 points, becoming the first Chilean wine to receive the highest recognition worldwide.
“Viñedo Chadwick's exceptional 2018 vintage delivers an intense ruby red color with violet flashes. Elegant, fresh and vertical on the nose, with aromas of cherries, blackcurrant, raspberry and delicate notes of tart blueberries. The palate shows red fruit and blackberries, framed by soft notes of dark chocolate and a touch of cedar, subtly marked by silky tannins and very fine grain. Extremely elegant, intense, and of a unique depth. We are facing perhaps the most balanced harvest ever produced in Chadwick Vineyard, promising great aging potential." - Winemaker Francisco Baettig
97 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Viñedo Chadwick is a little warmer as a zone than the vineyards of Seña, but the wine is still very fresh, with moderate alcohol, perfectly ripe fruit and super integrated oak, coming through as elegant within the powerful style of the zone, with red and black fruit, some aromatic herbs, the cedary and spicy notes of the variety and the signature tannins of Cabernet, keeping the juiciness of the last few years. The little bit of Petit Verdot in the blend gives it a spicy touch. It’s vibrant, balanced and intense, still a little young and creamy, and I’d wait a little bit longer before pulling the cork. This can surely age in bottle, as it has the ingredients and the balance to do so; it has the elegance of 2016 with a little more structure and depth—and a little more clout too.
98 Points - James Suckling The aromas show blackcurrant, pine-tree, violet and light spearmint character. Full-bodied, yet reserved and tight with fine, creamy tannins. Hints of currants and fresh herbs. Extremely long and layered.
96 Points - Vinous The 2018 Viñedo Chadwick is 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot from the Chadwick vineyard in Puente Alto, and was aged for 22 months in four-fifths new barrels and the rest foudres. Crisp violet in hue. The precise, subtle nose offers pure red fruit notes along with sour cherry, black currant, black tea and hints of mint and pepper. Juicy on the palate, displaying accomplished balance; the tannins are fine-grained with a solid volume that gets a little kick of freshness at the end, enhancing the depth of flavor. A classic wine executed with a watchmaker’s attention to detail.
