Deep ruby red colour with an attractive nose offering intense aromas of small black fruits. A powerful, warm and concentrated wine with exceptional aromatic intensity with elegant tannins and a touch of leather that linger son the finish.

94 Points - James Suckling
I love the fine spicy notes and delicate red fruit aromas of this concentrated and very elegant Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru. Subtle celery note, both the root and stalk. Only medium-bodied, but with excellent structure and finesse, the finish long and subtle. Drink or hold.

94 Points - Tim Atkin
The nose is just stunning in fruit precision and purity, offering layers of blueberries and mulberries with underbrush notes. Distinguished and rather open now, Jérôme commented that this suffered less from the frost than many other parcels.

92-94 Points - Jasper Morris
A good crop at 35 hl/ha as Lavaux was pruned late and is a cool spot. Fine crisp red to crimson. A lean but healthy bouquet. Red fruit with orange zest. Tighter and tenser on the palate, with a darker but still raw red fruit and the peppery finish. Promising Drink from 2027-2033.

92-94 Points - Vinous
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru offers one of my favourite bouquets from Faiveley in this vintage: open redcurrant and wild strawberry scents, touches of sous-bois and truffle, very expressive and charming. The palate is well balanced with finely-chiselled tannins, quite energetic, perhaps because compared to their Les Cazetiers, this was barely touched by the frost. Almost confit-like on the finish. Excellent.

91-93 Points - Wine Advocate
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques reveals aromas of cherries, sweet berries, loamy soil and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, supple and lively, with melting tannins and a penetrating finish, it's a success.

90-92 Points - Burghound
A brooding nose of dark berry, sauvage and earth nuances is trimmed in moderate wood. The lilting but punchy middleweight flavors possess lovely detail and an underlying tension while offering good length on the youthfully austere and ever-so-mildly lean finish. I suspect that this will better flesh out if given a few years of cellaring.
