Some barrels are better without a char. When people think of toasted barrels, sweetness, smoke, and confection come to mind. That is why we specially designed our toast profiles for our toasted-only barrels to emphasize these flavors. Toasted Barrel Rye will always be a nose-heavy whiskey with overwhelming richness and a slight hint of wood and smoke.
Even at 105 proof, this smooth and creamy expression is a favorite amongst new whiskey drinkers because of its dominant sweet flavor profile.
All of our Buzzards Roost Products have been aged in proprietary barrels that we create with our cooperage partner. Each barrel has a unique individual flavor that is used somewhat like a spice rack to complement our whiskeys. We pride ourselves on delivering new and interesting profiles for each release. Our products evolve and change but one thing is for certain, they are always delicious.
Nose:
A vast array of sweet goodness. Pumpkin pie, bread pudding, crème brulee, and freshly toasted wood dominate.
Palate:
The palate is rich and creamy with all the sweetness following through from the nose. The sharp spiciness of the 95% rye mash bill keeps things from getting too thick and lends a nice grit to the palate.
Finish:
