The first of five regal malts chosen to portray the Leads of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, this dignified old Glen Grant was distilled back in 1965. In selecting a whisky to evoke the good King Duncan, bottler Elixir Distillers knew it was imperative they find a dram of great maturity and grace. Glen Grant, with its renowned complexity and exceptionally-long ageing potential, proved the perfect choice to bring this iconic character to life. The palate shows all the hallmarks of great maturity with notes of leather-bound books, forest floors and red fruits.
Each bottling in this landmark series builds on character profiles created by whisky writer and Macbeth enthusiast Dave Broom. His renderings of the cast informed Elixir Distillers in selecting the whiskies to portray Shakespeare’s immortal cast of characters. Illustrations provided by the legendary Sir Quentin Blake add an extra dimension to this ground-breaking collaboration.
