Château Clarke is a beautiful crimson color with a deep purple edge. Both intense and complex, the nose displays fresh fruit aromas (black currant and black cherry) and elegant oak nuances, as well as hints of menthol and liquorice with aeration. The wine starts out round and straightforward and follows with rich, concentrated and velvety tannic texture along with beautiful acidity that provides balance and freshness.

Blend: 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon

Cold soaking and fermentation in oak and stainless steel vats. Automatic temperature control. 100% in barrels (2/3 new and 1/3 second fill). Ageing duration of 16 months.

The property was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973. A wine lover like many other members of his illustrious family, Edmond de Rothschild dreamed of owning an intimate, unassuming vineyard that he would turn into his masterpiece. The nearby Atlantic Ocean gives the terroir a freshness that is reflected in the aromatic brilliance of the wine. A terroir highly suited to cultivating the Merlot varietal, in a region more traditionally known for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Clarke thus possesses a deeply distinctive Médoc character.
