2000: After 20 years, this beautiful wine has developed delicious aromas of black cherries, tobacco & autumn leaves. It is perfectly balanced with great complexity, elegant texture and a never-ending length.

"The 2000 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, from a much warmer vintage, is a big, powerful wine packed with dark fruit, earth and game notes. It doesn't have the level of finesse and balance of the 2001 and its less lively colour along with its evolving flavours suggest it will reach maturity sooner, although for this producer that is measured in relative terms." Antonio Galloni (Octobre 2006)

Terroir: Clay for 1.5m deep and then, limestone underneath. South-west facing vineyard

Age of vines: 48 years old

Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested // destemmed by hand // maceration for 7/8 days // gentle tannin extraction with punch down only - no pump over // ageing for two years in cement tank // bottled for further ageing in the bottle // sulphur < 50mg/L.
